Dolphin Combo Special

Join us for a dolphin swim with the southern pod plus a cruise along the rugged and beautiful South Kona Coastline to Kealakekua Bay and Captain Cook's Monument.  This 6 to 7 hour excursion is offered at $1250 plus tax and harbor fee,  the same price as a 4 hour private dolphin swim.  This only applies to a booking for up to six passengers aboard our primary vessel, Shogun.

Kealakekua Bay is the largest sheltered natural bay on the island of Hawaii.  The spectacular marine sanctuary at Kealakekua Bay offers an abundance of colorful tropical fish, a variety of beautiful coral reefs and visibility often to 100 feet. The calm, protected waters of Kealakekua Bay make this spot one of the premier places to snorkel anywhere in Hawaii.  By the way, the land where the monument sits is considered British soil to this day.

This is a sample of what you will see snorkeling at Kealakekua Bay

As the story is told, Captain James Cook and his expedition with the ships, Resolution and Discovery, entered the sheltered waters of Kealakekua Bay (Pathway of the Gods) on the morning of Jan. 17, 1779, during the height of a local religious festival.  Thinking Cook was a returning God, the Hawaiians welcomed and honored him.  Upon leaving the Bay, the expedition ran into foul weather and the ships were damaged.  Cook and his ships returned to Kealakekua Bay but were met with distrust and suspicion.  Strife followed, and the Hawaiians realized that Cook and his crew were not immortal.  In the end, Cook, and six of his men, were  surrounded and killed at this very spot
