On the Kona coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, we are graced with the presence of over 800 Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins, smaller pods of Spotted Dolphins, and Bottlenose, in addition to all-year round Pilot Whales, seasonal Humpback whales, Manta Rays, Turtles and others.

The Hawaiian Spinners Dolphins are the most regular visitors to the shores along the Kona coast. Almost daily, they come into shore to rest, play & interact with their human friends. Nearly everyone, of all ages and snork-ability, can swim with the dolphins.

A phenomenal experience, as Phillipa or her staff take you on a customized half-day morning tour in the waters where the dolphins rest and play. She will share her experiences of swimming with the dolphins, and discuss techniques of free diving and snorkeling to experience close and respectful contact with our finned friends. The time in the water with the dolphins varies from a few minutes to 3+ hours. Remember it can take a one second of looking into the eye of a dolphin to have your life forever changed!
Certainly if time and financial resources are not issues for you, and dolphins / marine mammals are your priority, we highly recommend doing more than one trip. Although our boat trips are averaging 95% success with the dolphins, this will increase your chances of having a phenomenal time!

• You have a close to 95% chance of seeing the dolphins on any given day
• If the dolphins are not where they usually are, we will travel in the boat to be with them
• Snorkel gear, snacks, fruit, water and juices are included
• If we complete with the dolphins early enough, we can enjoy other marine mammals and sea life; e.g. Humpback Whales in the Winter, Pilot Whales all year-round, Manta Rays occasionally

• We meet at the Honokohau Harbor and Marina, Kona at 8:45am and return at 01:00pm
• Parties of almost any size can be accommodated, We have boats that cater to parties of up to 6, and boats that can take up to 20+. Depending on the size of your party, and availability of the boats in your date range, you may be on a smaller boat with up to 6 people, or on a boat with up to 20 people.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1) How Much Is The Excursion And What is included ?: 
The price is $175 per person. The price for a private charter for up to 5 people is $975. or $1250 (6 people). Included in the price are snacks, water, sodas, snorkel equipment, boat charter and professional guides. For a private charter for parties between 7-25, please enquire about availability and price.

2) Time Of Day?:
We meet at 8:45am, with departure at around 9:00 am, with return at 1:00 PM. The 3/4 day trip is 6 hours from 9:00 am to 3:00 PM. Remember, this is your trip, so we shall work with you to prepare a schedule that best meets your needs. Bear in mind, that the dolphins tend to frequent the bays EARLY in the mornings, and as such, this is the best time of day to BE with them.

3./ What If I Want To Stay Out Longer?:
You may extend for another 2 hours for an additional 50% charge. e.g. the new excursion price per person is $262.50, or for a private boat charter, with up to 6 people $1462.50 This will give you more time to be with the dolphins, or to look for whales, or to have lunch in a secluded bay.

4./ WHAT IF I HAVE A GROUP OF MORE THAN 6 PEOPLE?
We also charter boats that take up to 14 or 25 guests respectively. Please call to reserve the bigger boats with as much notice as possible.

5./  HOW LONG DO I GET TO SWIM WITH THE DOLPHINS?: Dolphin encounters can last anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Remember, your life can change with a one second glance in the eye of a dolphin! The dolphin encounters are different every day. Some days the dolphins come very close to us, other days they cruise by underneath or beside us. Some days they jump and spin and play the leaf game for hours, other days they are more sedate. We just enjoy whatever is in store for us each day, and respect that the dolphins have free will and choice in any moment!

6./ MUST I BE A GOOD SWIMMER?: There is no need to be a good swimmer to enjoy swimming with dolphins. Swimmers of any ability can have extraordinary encounters. Just let us know your ability and we can come prepared with flotation devices, noodles, floatation jackets etc. We can cater for all ages from young children to those 90 years old+!! We can also cater for many of those that are handicapped. Please just let us know in advance if there are any health issues, fears, or handicaps for us to prepare for in advance.

7./ HOW MUCH WARMTH IS NEEDED IN THE WATER? The water temperature here is warm all year round. Consider bringing or hiring a wetsuit or scratch-guard(rented and sold in dive stores) in December or January, although this is not essential.

8./ AGE/HEALTH CHALLENGES/LEVEL OF FITNESS?: Anywhere from babies, children to 90 year olds can enjoy swimming with dolphins. IF you have children in your party, please let us know in advance. Pregnant women are very welcome too! Those suffering from severe illnesses (e.g. cancer) can experience the healing qualities of the dolphins. Any level of fitness is fine. We will move at your pace!

9./ WHAT DO I BRING?: Wear a swimsuit under your outerwear/sarong. If you have your own snorkel gear, bring it!  Bring hat, sunglasses, sunscreen lotion, and towel.  Oh, and if you'd like to capture your experiences on film, please remember to bring along a disposable underwater camera! (Otherwise, we generally carry extras for $15 each).

10./ SEASICKNESS?: If you are feeling concerned about the possibility of experiencing motion sickness, please feel free to bring along over-the-counter drugs to accommodate your needs. Remember that many of the over the counter drugs require a one-hour lead time before the boat departs.  However, some of these drugs can result in you feeling somewhat drowsy. Our recommendation is also to bring along ginger in any form, (drinks, candy, pill form) ..as this can be quite sufficient to control any upset. Some people also recommend taking ginger tablets every day for one week prior to your trip.

11./ GUARANTEE?: As the dolphins are free to choose where they go any time of day, there are no guarantees. However, the dolphins do enjoy human interaction and based upon previous experiences, there is a 95% chance of you seeing the dolphins from the boat and swimming with the wild and free dolphins.

12./ WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?: If you cancel prior to 2 weeks, you will receive a 95% refund of your deposit. If you cancel between 2 weeks and 2 days, there will be a 10% charge to your card, and the remaining 90% of your deposit will be refunded. The deposit is nonrefundable within 48 hours of your trip, and you will generally be charged for the full price of you trip if not canceled prior to 48 hours. Also, if you cancel one or more numbers of your group, you may also be required to pay for their spaces, unless we can replace them.
